I CAN SEE CLEARY NOW!!! – 11. February, 2010

My new "Randy Jackson" brand glasses.

My new "Randy Jackson" brand glasses.

So I was watching American Idol last night with my mom and realized “Hey, Randy Jackson is wearing my same glasses!!” Sure enough, upon looking into my new glasses case I discover that they were designed by the big dawg himself. But I don’t care, I like them…a little pitchy, but AI’GHT!

Let’s Make Some Magic, People! – 2. February, 2010

So on this Country French Blog thing there is a section here called “Will’s Ramblings”. I’ve never really taken advantage of this little feature but I think I will now because I’m bored and there are only so many episodes of Cake Boss that I can watch at one time. Run on sentence. So this particular blog post will be my re-introduction to this whole techno-bleepblorp-future-sphere blog thing. I figure there are at least a few interesting things I can do on here every now and then like lists and thoughts and some giveaways and junk like that.

SPEAKING OF LISTS!!

I’ve been on a big Canadian music kick lately (more so than usual), and it seems that five groups have sifted their way to the top of my playlists.

1. Said The Whale – They put out an amazing album this year. If you have yet to hear “Islands Disappear” then you should correct this immediately. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one make the Polaris list.

2. Zeus – Amazing band. I wish I had written all of their songs. I can’t wait to get my mitts on their full-length album.

3. The Zolas – One of the best pop bands out there. We toured with them almost a year ago and not a day has passed since where I don’t find myself singing one of their songs in my head.

4. Arkells – “Jackson Square” is the finest rock album I’ve heard in a while. They are awesome guys and they would also like to remind you to come and visit Ontario because it is very nice here and there are lots of montage-y fun and pretty stuff to do and see here.

5. Bend Sinister – I’m relatively new to them, but I’m catching on quickly. I heard their song “Jimmy Brown” and then immediately downloaded (legally) everything I could from them off of the iTunes.

So that’s my top 5 for this, the February 1st.

POST YOUR LIST!!

Canadian Music Week – 14. March, 2009

We just got home after playing our 3rd show for Toronto’s Canadian Music Week. It’s been a really great time and we’ve been simply spoiled by all the people who have come out and seen us play. Night #1 was at the Mod Club supporting our friends Sloan which is always a good time for us. Night #2 was with Sloan again at the Mod Club though I can safely say we brought our ‘A’ game that night and really had one of the best times of our young career. Night #3 took place at the historic El Mocambo and was tons of fun despite some sickly members and some scratchy throats. Overall, this years CMW was stellar and outdid last year’s festivities for sure. Thanks to everybody who checked us out in Toronto this week and hopefully you had a great time too.

Sloan show in Sarnia tomorrow, gotta get some sleep.

Goodnight,
Will

Brag Blog – 9. March, 2009

So on our way to the studio the other day we were summoned to the post office to pick up this hilarious and wonderful Bucky Award trophy from the CBC. We all had some fun posing with the hardware in an attempt to experience what athletes must go through on a daily basis. Also, many of the takes from this studio session were later discovered to be ‘unusable’ due to the abundance of high-five slaps and jockular grunts that made their way to tape. Our volunteer engineer Jerry was a good sport and continued to humor us with smiles, though the eye rolling and watch glances accelerated steadily throughout the night.

Steve poses as Jerry sits and fixes.

The Chronicles of Sarnia and much, much more!! – 5. March, 2009

So we are gearing up for a few more dates in the next few weeks. We are very happy to be catching up with our good friends “The Sloans” for a few shows with them as well as some headlining dates of our own. March 7th we’re in Peterborough, 10th in Waterloo, 11th-12th-13th in Toronto, then the 14th in the mystical land of Sarnia.

Also, TONIGHT MARCH 6TH!! Tune into CBC Bold (if you get that channel) to see our episode of “In Session”. 6PM EST.

Best Wishes,
Will

p.s. We’re still recording. Magic takes time apparently.

The Blog Drivers Waltz – 26. February, 2009

Hey Everyone,
This is an old blog it looks like, but I read it today and it made me feel really good. It’s basically a glowing synopsis of our EP that you may or may not agree with, but it certainly was a nice thing to stumble upon. Though I usually avoid reading reviews, this one just happened to catch my eye and I’m glad it did. Anyway, read it if you like and have a great day.

We Are Recording An Album! – 2. February, 2009

Blahg:

This week we are moving into the studio to record our full length debut album. Our parents and friends are brimming with anticipation, and I must say that I am as well. I think we are sitting on a great collection of songs that is sure to please both young and old, and will hopefully be in everybody’s mits this summer. I’ll try and think of a few spoilers to tickle your interest…SPOILER ALERT!: the album will be something like 14 songs, plus we’ll record a few extras for free download or some fun stuff like that. SPOILER ALERT!: this disc will also be a bit less poppy than our ep though still lots of fun and adventurous. I’ll keep the rest of my cards close to my chest for now, and I’ll blahg about our progress in making the record as time progresses.

In the mean time, keep an eye on our tour schedule as we do a few shows here and there to keep us busy and try out some new stuff as well.

Best Wishes,

Will

Mean Beard – 7. December, 2008

So I shaved my face off the other day. I was surprised at how long I actually went without shaving and I’d say I had a fairly decent face beard by the end of it. You see, none of us shaved on our last tour, which ended at the beginning of October…but then everyone shaved except me. Maybe I was in denial that our super fun tour was over, or maybe I just thought it looked too Ronny Hawkinsy to get rid of. Still, I maintain the belief that every young guy should grow a decent beard every now and then just to see what you got. I must admit that the reviews of my fuzzy face were a mixed bag, but you can’t knock it until you’ve tried it. It’s super cozy on the inside.

Aux and Plow – 27. November, 2008

Hey folks! We recently taped an episode of everyone’s favourite TV show, “The Alt Sessions”, and for those of you who aren’t pickin’ up what I’m puttin’ down… It’s a really great show with a very interesting concept. They essentially film bands in a candid and intimate way at a location of the bands choosing. We chose to tape the episode at Wilfrid Laurier University, the very same institution that molded our young minds from tardy to smartie. The crew was really nice and basically let us do whatever we wanted to, so hopefully that translates into quality television with action, adventure, and possibly a touch of romance? SPOILER ALERT!: no, there is none.

So check out www.aux.tv or tune in to Aux Monday’s on BiteTV. (check your local listings)
Best Wishes,

Blahg – 20. November, 2008

So welcome to the new website everybody! I’ve been asked to write up a quick blog to get the ball rolling on this section so here goes…

THIS IS THE BLOG SECTION! This is where you are free to come and peruse our inner most thoughts and feelings, plus catch up on any late breaking news that we feel like commenting on. The only news going on at the moment is our focus on our full-length debut album. The songs are written and ready to be recorded starting sometime after Christmas. We hope to have this adorable puppy of a record on the shelves and in your mitts by August of 2009. SPOILER ALERT!: This one will be longer and subsequently better than the first. Early reviews claim that it’s the finest unrecorded album since Peter Criss’ 1986 release The Cat Scratches Back: Live From Nepal.
And just a friendly reminder that Christmas is just around the corner, and there is no better way to stuff that stocking than with a copy of A Great Stage (UK Title: Greatest Hits) which is still very available in all fine record stores across Canada and from this website as well.

Best Wishes,
Will
