Canadian Music Week 2010! – 3. March, 2010

This year we have two shows at two locations, but on one street! We are ahppy to offer oyu two choices based on where you are in the city and how far you want to walk from you. So get your day planner out and figure out where you are going to come see us! I am going to confirm times this week and I will post it up here and on the Facebook page.

Wednesday March 10th we will be at the Gladstone (1214 Queen St. W) Gladstone website
Thursday March 11th
we will be at Mitzis Sister (1554 Queen St. W) Mitzis website

Not entirely sure who we are playing with but I know Hannah Georgas will be at the show on Wednesday.

Also see a new photo thats been kicking around our Facebook page. It was taken across the street from The Blacksheep Inn, in Wakefield Quebec last fall. I think its pretty moody!

Stars of the LCD Screen! – 9. December, 2009

Hey everyone!

Just a quick post on this lovely, snowy Wednesday to warm your spirits a little.

First, thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Waterloo, and those of you who joined us live via the internet box! It was a lot of fun cramming an extra 150 people in Maxwell’s music house through the wonders of technology. Sure the sound was a little rough, and the video may have been a bit choppy, but we’re working to make the experience better and better each time. So stay tuned for future broadcast concerts from your favourite venues around the country!

Next up, we have a couple of exciting new videos to talk about today! We had two talented filmmakers out to our show in Hamilton with Arkells last week, and lucky for us, two shiny new videos to show for it! First, courtesy of SouthernSouls.ca, an alternate version of our song, Flowers. We happened to find an old grand piano kicking around the Studio Theatre and decided to sit around and sing for the camera. Second, we have a behind the scenes video courtesy of our good friend Mark, bringing you another glimpse of life as a Canadian indie band. We hope you check them out! Click either of the photos below to see the videos!

The Country French On ICE! (er.. Online!) – 26. November, 2009

Hello Darlings!

So, it’s a pretty exciting day here at the Country French Camp. Apparently they’ve had the internet on computers for YEARS now and we’re some of the last to know. But don’t fret. We’ve decided to celebrate our recent discovery by taking this frightening new technology and running with it.

Yes, that’s right, we’ve set up a UStream account! *hold for applause* … Okay, for those of you who don’t know what the heck UStream is, it’s a website that allows anyone with enough time on their hands and commitment to nerdery to broadcast their lives to anyone willing to watch via the internet. What does that mean for us? Well, we’re proud to announce the launch of the Country French LiveStream!

From now on, whenever we have a strong internet connection and a capable board, we’ll try to broadcast our shows so you can dance along in your living room, either by yourself, with a party (get some chips and pop first!), your cat, or your parents! We’ll send out an update via twitter, myspace, facebook and our website a few hours before each show, so you’ll know when to sign in.

The UStream page can be found at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-country-french-live-stream

Even more exciting, if you log in to watch us and sign up for a USTREAM account, you can even CHAT with us while we’re there! It really can be like you’re with us!

So the first stream will be a week from today! Coming at you live from Maxwell’s Music House in Waterloo, Thursday, Dec. 3.

We also have a show on Dec. 4 in Hamilton at the Studio Theatre with our friends Arkells! We’re really looking forward to that too! I hear tickets are going faster than peanuts at a baseball game though, so act fast if you’re trying to get tickets for that show!

That’s all for now! See you on the WEB!

NEW STUFFZ! – 15. October, 2009

Encore!Hey E’eryone!

A couple things to talk about on this crisp fall morning!

First, the tour with Dan Mangan is going swimmingly! He’s just as talented as he is handsome. Tonight we play the Montreal House in Peterborough and tomorrow (Aaron’s birthday!) we head back to Toronto for a show at the Rivoli.

Second, we’ve updated the looks of our website and MySpace pages! So if you’ve got some spare time on your hands (which, if you’re looking at this, I assume you do) go check them out. We’ve also posted some new songs on the Myspace from our upcoming album Awake, You Sleepers!

Seeeeeee you on the road!

CMW wrap up and new photos! – 23. March, 2009

We had a whirl wind Canadian Music Week! Tuesday in Waterloo at the Starlight Lounge, then two nights at the Mod Club, Friday at the El Mocambo, then Sarnia with Sloan on Saturday!

Up on the Facebook Page we have 2 photo galleries from the Mod Club show, one of them being shot by photographer Matthew Braga from Toronto. He was nice enough to send us over the shots he took from the front row.

Also up on the Facebook Page is the write up for the Dose.ca’s Artist to Watch 2009. We are on the free iTunes play list, so head over to the note to get the link for the free download.

Chart Attack’s CMW Report Card is also out, and The Country French scored much higher on then I ever scored in math class. Remember kids, The Country French support academic success! Stay in School!

By the way… the new album is sounding fantastic. Just in case you were wondering…

Canadian Music Week – 14. March, 2009

We just got home after playing our 3rd show for Toronto’s Canadian Music Week. It’s been a really great time and we’ve been simply spoiled by all the people who have come out and seen us play. Night #1 was at the Mod Club supporting our friends Sloan which is always a good time for us. Night #2 was with Sloan again at the Mod Club though I can safely say we brought our ‘A’ game that night and really had one of the best times of our young career. Night #3 took place at the historic El Mocambo and was tons of fun despite some sickly members and some scratchy throats. Overall, this years CMW was stellar and outdid last year’s festivities for sure. Thanks to everybody who checked us out in Toronto this week and hopefully you had a great time too.

Sloan show in Sarnia tomorrow, gotta get some sleep.

Goodnight,
Will
