The Country French would like to extend their welcome to the newest member of the “Instrument Arsenal of DOOM”!
The Yamaha CP70B was picked up today and after a little love and care it will be gracing a stage near you.

The CP70 joins the Vintage gear ranks with a Roland JX 3P, Boss HC2, and a Fender Rhodes that are currently played by none other then Steve Wood.
Mr. Beacock contributes to the Vintage army with a 1987x Marshall head with a 2×12 2061 Cab.

My new "Randy Jackson" brand glasses.

My new "Randy Jackson" brand glasses.

So I was watching American Idol last night with my mom and realized “Hey, Randy Jackson is wearing my same glasses!!” Sure enough, upon looking into my new glasses case I discover that they were designed by the big dawg himself. But I don’t care, I like them…a little pitchy, but AI’GHT!

Let’s Make Some Magic, People! – February 2nd, 2010

So on this Country French Blog thing there is a section here called “Will’s Ramblings”. I’ve never really taken advantage of this little feature but I think I will now because I’m bored and there are only so many episodes of Cake Boss that I can watch at one time. Run on sentence. So this particular blog post will be my re-introduction to this whole techno-bleepblorp-future-sphere blog thing. I figure there are at least a few interesting things I can do on here every now and then like lists and thoughts and some giveaways and junk like that.

SPEAKING OF LISTS!!

I’ve been on a big Canadian music kick lately (more so than usual), and it seems that five groups have sifted their way to the top of my playlists.

1. Said The Whale – They put out an amazing album this year. If you have yet to hear “Islands Disappear” then you should correct this immediately. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one make the Polaris list.

2. Zeus – Amazing band. I wish I had written all of their songs. I can’t wait to get my mitts on their full-length album.

3. The Zolas – One of the best pop bands out there. We toured with them almost a year ago and not a day has passed since where I don’t find myself singing one of their songs in my head.

4. Arkells – “Jackson Square” is the finest rock album I’ve heard in a while. They are awesome guys and they would also like to remind you to come and visit Ontario because it is very nice here and there are lots of montage-y fun and pretty stuff to do and see here.

5. Bend Sinister – I’m relatively new to them, but I’m catching on quickly. I heard their song “Jimmy Brown” and then immediately downloaded (legally) everything I could from them off of the iTunes.

So that’s my top 5 for this, the February 1st.

POST YOUR LIST!!

BEST WISHES,
WILL

Stars of the LCD Screen! – December 9th, 2009

Hey everyone!

Just a quick post on this lovely, snowy Wednesday to warm your spirits a little.

First, thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Waterloo, and those of you who joined us live via the internet box! It was a lot of fun cramming an extra 150 people in Maxwell’s music house through the wonders of technology. Sure the sound was a little rough, and the video may have been a bit choppy, but we’re working to make the experience better and better each time. So stay tuned for future broadcast concerts from your favourite venues around the country!

Next up, we have a couple of exciting new videos to talk about today! We had two talented filmmakers out to our show in Hamilton with Arkells last week, and lucky for us, two shiny new videos to show for it! First, courtesy of SouthernSouls.ca, an alternate version of our song, Flowers. We happened to find an old grand piano kicking around the Studio Theatre and decided to sit around and sing for the camera. Second, we have a behind the scenes video courtesy of our good friend Mark, bringing you another glimpse of life as a Canadian indie band. We hope you check them out! Click either of the photos below to see the videos!

The Country French On ICE! (er.. Online!) – November 26th, 2009

Hello Darlings!

So, it’s a pretty exciting day here at the Country French Camp. Apparently they’ve had the internet on computers for YEARS now and we’re some of the last to know. But don’t fret. We’ve decided to celebrate our recent discovery by taking this frightening new technology and running with it.

Yes, that’s right, we’ve set up a UStream account! *hold for applause* … Okay, for those of you who don’t know what the heck UStream is, it’s a website that allows anyone with enough time on their hands and commitment to nerdery to broadcast their lives to anyone willing to watch via the internet. What does that mean for us? Well, we’re proud to announce the launch of the Country French LiveStream!

From now on, whenever we have a strong internet connection and a capable board, we’ll try to broadcast our shows so you can dance along in your living room, either by yourself, with a party (get some chips and pop first!), your cat, or your parents! We’ll send out an update via twitter, myspace, facebook and our website a few hours before each show, so you’ll know when to sign in.

The UStream page can be found at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/the-country-french-live-stream

Even more exciting, if you log in to watch us and sign up for a USTREAM account, you can even CHAT with us while we’re there! It really can be like you’re with us!

So the first stream will be a week from today! Coming at you live from Maxwell’s Music House in Waterloo, Thursday, Dec. 3.

We also have a show on Dec. 4 in Hamilton at the Studio Theatre with our friends Arkells! We’re really looking forward to that too! I hear tickets are going faster than peanuts at a baseball game though, so act fast if you’re trying to get tickets for that show!

That’s all for now! See you on the WEB!
